About Zachary Typhair

Zachary Typhair is a Kingston based community advocate who is dedicated to building a more affordable, accessible, and sustainable city for everyone. Living and working in the heart of the Pittsburgh District as an insurance agent, he understands the day-to-day challenges residents face and the opportunities ahead.

Zachary previously served as Chair of Kingston’s Environmental Advisory Committee, where he worked on practical, locally driven solutions to protect natural spaces and help the city prepare for a changing climate. His work centered on balancing environmental responsibility with the real needs of a growing community.

He is an active follower of City Council and local planning decisions, regularly engaging with the issues shaping Kingston’s future, from housing affordability and infrastructure to land use, transportation, and overall community well-being. Zachary believes Kingston can build the homes it needs while preserving the green spaces and neighbourhood character that make our city a great place to live.

Community

Professionally, Zachary works as an insurance agent, supporting local families, renters, homeowners, and small business owners in navigating risk during increasingly uncertain times. His day-to-day work gives him a clear understanding of how rising costs, housing pressures, and climate-related risks impact people across the Pittsburgh District and greater Kingston.

This frontline experience shapes Zachary’s approach to community advocacy: thoughtful, balanced, and rooted in real life. He focuses not on partisanship, but on practical, evidence-based solutions that strengthen Kingston, making it more affordable, more resilient, and more inclusive for everyone who calls it home.
